I recently returned from my first trip to Medellin and I loved the city. A friend recommended that I contact MedellinColores if I wanted to do any tours. They were so helpful in getting everything set up and it was a very simple process. We decided to do 2 tours – a half day tour of Comuna 13 and a full day tour to Guatape.
The tour of Comuna 13 was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. On the way there we stopped at Cerro Nutibara where we saw incredible 360 degree views of Medellin. We also stopped at the former home of Palbo Escobar where he met his fate. When we got to Comuna 13, Henry first took us up to the top of the mountain and back on the cable car. It was quite a treat and provided us with wonderful views of the area. After that, we drove to another area where we parked and began our trip through the Comunas where we got to see a number of the beautiful murals, ride the escalators, see some impromptu performances, do a little shopping and stop to enjoy some food and drink along the way. It was an amazing day.
I also loved the trip to Guatape which had been recommended by so many people. I just had to climb up that rock! It was a long trip up with lots of stops, but worth it when I saw the views from the top. After that, we walked around the town for a bit and ended our tour with a lunch of Bandeja Paisa – a huge meal and a traditional Colombian dish.
Henry was our tour guide and driver for both of the trips. We couldn’t have asked for anyone better to guide us. Henry was always on time for our hotel pick up and was very accommodating and happy to customize the tour based on our interests. He had a great knowledge of the history of the different areas we went to and shared that with us. He also had connections with a number of people during our tours. We stopped and ate lunches and snacks all along the way and Henry knew where to take us for that and what to order for us. It gave us a good exposure to the local foods and they were all delicious! A big thank you to Henry!

Just leaving Medellin and waiting at the airport to go back to the USA. This was my first time to Medellin and to be honest, I am now in love with the place! WOW! And MedellinColores provided me with the best locations, tours and spots to go where lots of tourists do, and many don't know about. The people, the places, the restaurants and the local spots ALL gave me a unique chance to really see into... and experience all that Medellin has.
